Design goal + Interaction vision

<aside> ◽ My design goal is to allow residents of the Netherlands that are anxious about receiving official mail to feel intrigued and surprised when opening blue envelopes.

Final design

Out of the Blue is a set of three envelopes, designed to reflect their content through their way of opening. Their purpose is to change the way people interact with official mail - which is, ultimately, the most direct contact they have with the Government.

A blue envelope in their mailbox is a dreaded sight for many residents of the Netherlands. They mean you have to pay - but only sometimes. Out of the Blue makes it so that you know what kind of news to expect (bad, in between, or even good!) and can receive them without any obstacles.

These envelopes are designed to be folded back and kept, as most people do with their important correspondence. They also use the old technique of folding the letter into its own envelope, saving great quantities of paper. Throughout this project, a question arises: can we change citizen’s perspective of their Government through such small interactions?
